In carrying out my work related to an Electrical Project designs in holdcodeltd and as part of my continuous journey toward smart and sustainable engineering, I’ve been exploring how Building Services Design and IoT-based Energy Monitoring can work together to create more efficient, data-driven environments.
Through my MEP training using Stabicad for Revit, I’ve gained hands-on experience in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing system design, learning how to model, coordinate, and optimize building services for safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
In parallel, I developed a Smart Energy Monitoring System by applying the skills I acquired during my Msc. course on smart systems and using:
- 💻 Raspberry Pi as an IoT gateway
- 🔌 SDM120 Energy Meter (Modbus RTU) for real-time electrical data source.
- 🌡️ DHT11 Sensor for environmental monitoring
- 🔄 Node-RED for constructing the logic for; establishing connectivity, data acquisition and automation
- 📊 ThingsBoard Dashboard for live visualization and analytics
By combining these two skill sets — intelligent MEP design and IoT-enabled energy analytics — I aim to contribute toward the development of smart building systems that not only perform efficiently but also provide real-time insights for energy optimization, predictive maintenance, and sustainable operations.
My goal: to bridge the gap between engineering design and digital intelligence for the next generation of smart and sustainable buildings
